The Arizona Taliban – er, I mean – legislature passed a bill (SB-1062) basically allowing a business to refuse service to someone else on the basis of religious preferences. The steaming puddle of GOP-produced elephant diarrhea now sits on Governor Jan Brewer’s desk waiting for signature.
Arizona democrats call the measure “state-sanctioned discrimination,” and social media is rightfully erupting in outrage.
The goosestepping, theocratic shitbags of the conservative group, “Center for Arizona Policy” backed the horrific legislation, and both Republican-controlled bodies of the state Senate and House passed it. On the Center’s website (I will not befoul CrabDiving.com with a link to it) the Christo-fascist group said: “As we witness hostility towards people of faith grow like never before, we must take this opportunity to speak up for religious liberty.”
Typically, the religious right squeals about “hostility” that they themselves incite and invite by trying to further shove the old, white, shriveled pecker of White Christianity down the gullet of the nation.
As I frequently rant on our CrabNation commie-pinko-liberal radio talk show, there is NO war on religion, only a defense against the brain cancer that is Dominionism.
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer vetoed a similar dung pile of a bill previously, but at that time she was vetoing everything in a battle with the state legislature over accepting the Medicaid expansion.
It is hard to imagine that Brewer would sign this version, either. It violently and blatantly pisses on the Constitution, and any protracted legal battle would end up costing the taxpayers of the Grand Canyon State millions. There are already rumors of businesses threatening to leave – or not relocate to – Arizona if the measure is signed. Plus, with the Super Bowl being held in Phoenix next year, I think it doubtful Brewer would invite the already-simmering boycotts of the state.
My prediction is that the Governor will veto this obvious attempt to squelch the rights of a community of our citizens.
I hope to the Flying Spaghetti Monster I’m right. If not, get those “Boycott Arizona” campaigns ready.
And if you have a business there, please get ready to hang “No Christians Allowed” signs. Then you’ll see how quickly that evil law will go away.
Sigh….. ‘Merica
