So Arkansas is going to allow the “academic study” of the Bible in public school?
I assume they will also be passing bills allowing the “academic study” of the Bhagavad Gita, the sacred Pastafarian texts…
… and the Koran?
I’m sure.
In a couple of states where this was already done, some of these “academic study” classes have turned into pure “the Earth is 6000 years old and Jesus rode a dinosaur”-type dogma teaching.
For example, the Texas Freedom network found that in the Lone Star state’s “non-religious” Bible classes “religious bias is common”, there were prevalent anti-Jewish themes, and that many of the courses were teaching the Bible as literally true.
If this country keeps trying to lurch back into the Bronze Age, we all might as well start learning Mandarin now.
