That being said, I haven’t read it but an article in the New York Post makes me want to. Here’s a quote from “Glow” by David Ritz – James, fearing the mystery man would bleed to death, woke Stills (Crosby, Stills & Nash), who responded, “Oh, f–k. He’s doing it again.”
Who do you think the “mystery man” is and what was he doing? The answer isn’t a real shocker but I was surprised to learn that Rick James was the product of organized crime in Buffalo. But wait…am I really surprised by that fact-let? Maybe it makes sense that the late musician that once beat the shit out of a financial backer was raised by mobsters. Did you guys know that Rick James was nearly killed by the Manson clan? “Glow” recounts how R.J. and his girlfriend were supposed to attend a party at Roman Polanski’s. But due to a nasty hangover, “Big Jimmy” stayed home and wasn’t murdered along with Sharon Tate and the other party goers. Who knows? Maybe “Super Freak” would’ve put his red, knee-high boots up a Masonite’s ass and saved the day. Anyway, here’s a link to the book on Amazon. I am going to order “Glow” stat.
